Belle's Quinceañera Photoshoot

My cat Belle turned 15 this month! I can't believe that she's been with me since I was 18 years old, about to graduate from High School and now, I'm an adult with a career and my cat has been with me through everything. All the ups and downs of life, I've lived in a few different places but once she was able to stay with me for good, it was a big change.

Happily, Belle had been every sweet to me when I'm sad or upset. She even let me put this adorable dress I bought for her from MariaPril Collection. And the lovely crown is from The Fairy Factory Shop. Both shops sell on Etsy.com. I am so glad that Belle let me put these on her for her birthday photoshoot.

These beautiful photos were taken by a friend of mine, Danielle. Danielle is a photographer and a social media marketing consultant. To see more of her work and hire her, check out her website. She also has a website called Disney Darlings which is a blog and photography site all about Disney and Disneyland. I could tell was getting confused about the whole photoshoot, Danielle was very patient and and made Belle feel relaxed.

The cake is a Lotus Salmon Pate from Lotus Pet Food. It's Belle's favorite. The bull piñata is from Epcot Theme Park, Mexico. The tassel bunting is from Vromans Bookstore. The candles are from my local Stater Brothers Grocery Store. The Disney Tsum Tsums (Chip and Dumbo) are from Target.

Rain Room at LACMA

I had to wait about a few months to go into the Rain Room at the Los Angeles Museum of Art. According to LACMA's website, "Random International’s Rain Room (2012) is an immersive environment of perpetually falling water that pauses wherever a human body is detected. The installation offers visitors an opportunity to experience what is seemingly impossible: the ability to control rain. Rain Room presents a respite from everyday life and an opportunity for sensory reflection within a responsive relationship.
Founded in 2005, Random International is a collaborative studio for experimental practice. They use science and technology to create experiences that aim to question and challenge the human experience within a machine-led world, engaging viewers through explorations of behavior and natural phenomena. In the decade following the studio's inception, the focus of Random International’s artistic practice has continuously evolved and today encompasses sculpture, performance, and installation on an architectural scale."

It was a very interesting experience. I'd prefer if I had known that people need to walk extremely slow, bright clothing is preferable for the system to "see" you. Also, as a short person it is also hard for the system to find me and keep rain from landing on my head. It was a great experience, though it felt like I was in a "selfie booth" with everyone taking photos of themselves, myself included. Happily, my admission also included the Frank Gehry exhibition, which I'll write about soon.

Self Care after an Injury

I injured my foot while running, so I thought I'd help heal a bit. I ice my foot about 15 minutes a day with a pack called "Therapearl". I also take ibuprofen. During the day I use KT Tape to wrap my foot and when I feel aggravated that I can't workout the way I want to, I eat some Thrifty Ice Cream. Ice Cream always make me feel better!

Ace Hotel, King's Highway Diner Review

I love diners and I thought I'd review one of my favorite places to eat in Palm Springs. King's Highway is a diner at the Ace Hotel. I went for my birthday last year and had a salad. This time I had chilaquiles and some coffee. It was delicious, I love the feel of the hotel and the restaurant because it's relaxing, fun and very welcoming. The chilaquiles were really good and they had a base of eggs underneath. Unlike most chilaquiles, these were like tortilla chips drizzled with sauce. Usually the tortilla chips are smothered in sauce, then cooked/fried. The coffee is also served nice and hot and the mug keeps the heat inside the mug too. If you're ever in Palm Springs, I suggest ordering this. My friend had a ALT (avocado, lettuce and tomato) and loved it also. She was really happy with her side of hash-browns too.
