New Vintage Items

I have been so busy that I haven't had time to post new items in a while! Happily, I made some free time to post a few new items! I found some retro wall hangings perfect for autumn, a letterpress letter and my personal favorite, a beautiful enamel fondue pot!

Life as an Events Coordinator

There's nothing like the stress of planning an event and dealing with buying all of the alcohol for the Opening Reception and feeling like an alcoholic at BevMo! Haha... Buying all of these drinks is most likely my least favorite part of my job. I prefer getting the musicians and food... and when it is over. That may be my favorite, then the stress is gone and I can move on with the rest of my job, recruiting volunteers, working on gift shop inventory and curating for the next exhibition. But I do enjoy when patrons enjoy the event my co-workers and I worked so hard on.

EtsyBloggers

Besides being completely addicted to Etsy and selling vintage items on Etsy is reading blogs by Etsy Sellers! Gladly I was accepted as an Official Teammate on EtsyBloggers! I have to say, at first I wasn't sure what my blog would include, but now I am constantly thinking about different subjects I can post about. I think it's the six years of college and graduate school. Now that I'm free I feel the need to write often while promoting my Etsy Store, Sea Sand Vintage.

Painting Supplies

Since I have had an enormous amount of free time I have had the opportunity to look for my art supplies, craft paper and my old portfolio. I thought I would name my re-entrance into creating and the Revival of my Pen Drawings and Art Projects.

Below are some photos of my painting supplies in my "new acquisition", a Vintage "Secret of NIMH" Lunchbox. I found it during one of my thrifting/antique shopping excursions! I am so happy I found this, I favorited one on Etsy a while back, but it was purchased before I could buy it. Serves me right for not adding it to my cart and buying it as soon as I saw it! Haha!
But it's fine now, since I found it and I refused to walk away from one again! This movie made my childhood what it was and I am so happy it can hold my mini art studio! (Now all I need is the Thermos!)

Selling Supplies

What I love about selling vintage fabric and supplies to fellow Etsy sellers is seeing what they have made! MySweetEmma made this fun, colorful dress out of my green/teal striped fabric! Especially since this fabric was my first sale back in June!

I Love Vintage

My love of vintage has always been with me, but it grew after watching the film "Return to OZ" and saw the Ornament Scene! My goal was to have a room of beautiful useless things. However my need to thrift and antique shop continued. Thus, I opened up my Etsy Store.
I'm working on fixing up my studio/office for future sales and my previous fabric acquisitions have been great. I actually found my Mom's Handmade Prom Dress from 1978 (which I won't be selling)! I decided to wear it for an art/music event I was working at this past week.

Upcycled Wrapping

One of my odd quirks is keeping old and vintage wrapping paper, supplies and tags. Above is the Orange Muslin Fabric that was shipped today and the wrapping below is a gift that I wrapped for my friend's birthday, made of a Paper Bag from my local grocery store, used twine, a glassine favor bag & sticker that was given to me before (which was perfect for my friend, who studied plants in college). Lastly, a small vintage tag that I have had for years.

Etsy Craft nights at CAFAM!

My friend and I decided to go to the Esty Craft Night at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles, her 2nd and my 1st. We created zines and had a great time, not only was there a huge amount of supplies, but the place was packed. While I wished I was able to meet others and pass my Etsy business card around and meet the CAFAM Director and go into the Museum to see the art I had a fun night... but next time I will go to the Galleries first, introduce myself to people and then craft.

Cat Crazy

Once again my Mexican Cat Maraca has been added to Two more Treasurie! This Cat Treasury is awesome. My cat is the most likely the most loved item in my shop, he's still looking for a home but I'm taking good care of him until someone decides that they can't live without him anymore. Much thanks to minxden for creating this treasury, and be sure to visit her store, I love her pillows and vintage fabric pillows!

Stoneandbone created a Treasury called, "Lets Take A Trip South of The Border". It's always nice to be placed in a Treasury, this cat is so loved... two treasuries in a row!

Showing Some Photography Prop Love

I love the props that I use in my store photographs. My prop inventory varies, but includes: Two baskets, a Singer sewing machine, cigarette pencils, matchstick post-its, the yellow wooden folding ruler, the bobbin with twine and the close pin.
Where did I get these great items? MOCA's gift shop, Danni's Pop-Up Shop Events, Barbara Cheatley's Store and my Mom's Sewing Room.

International Printing Museum Fair

The International Printing Museum hosted the 3rd Annual LA Printers Fair in Los Angeles. There were great equipment sales, vendors and plenty of free paper prints & lithograph printing. This event was awesome and I'll be selling many of the wood printing blocks soon on Sea Sand Vintage.
