Create and Thrive - Photo a Day Challange

I was a little uninspired in August in regards to my Instagram. Mostly I was just taking photos of food and my cat. I decided that after being inspired by the Modcloth' s Summer Challenge I wanted to  do another one, I did a quick search and found Jess' Create & Thrive's Photo Challenge! I liked the challenges and I had a lot of fun taking the photos. I may do another challenge later on, if I find one just as inspiring. Thanks for the fun photo challenge Jess!

I was really excited when Jess from Create & Thrive chose my "Treasured" photo as one of her favorites. I decided to show my favorite vintage rings. My rings from left to right:
From a Monterrey antique store this year, Found in a grocery store when I was a kid, Given to me from my Aunt, From a Pasadena antique store this year.

A Beautiful Mess: 30 day self portrait challenge (2)

I joined the 30 day self portrait challenge on Instagram, mostly because I hate "selfies" and photos of people in general. I thought I would try to embrace it, so that I don't "hate" them as much.  So far I have tried to take them everyday and it's a lot harder than I thought. I realized I hate the way I look in all these photos. So I'll try to work on myself. Haha! Enjoy the following photos of myself.

A Beautiful Mess: 30 day self portrait challenge

I joined the 30 day self portrait challenge on Instagram, mostly because I hate "selfies" and photos of people in general. I thought I would try to embrace it, so that I don't "hate" them as much. So far, I have tried not to make any ridiculous faces associated with selfies. I have also been trying not to smile, because I always smile and I'm sure those photos of me smiling the same way in every photo would annoy my followers too. Above are my photos so far, Enjoy.

To Facebook or Not to Facebook?

(Nürnberg, Germany)

I am debating if I should also add a Facebook page for Sea Sand Vintage. I am leaning towards not doing so, only because I have this blog, which is a much more creative outlet for me. I feel like the posts I write here go a little unnoticed, however since I am the Facebook user  that I used to be, maybe a Facebook page would lack in "Likes" as well.

But let me go back and review my online outlets for Sea Sand Vintage:
The store is on Etsy.com, the updates are on Twitter (which is connected to Instagram) and this blog on Blogger to share my etsy store updates, and personal updates about my life.

I think that more than enough as I do have a full time job, currently looking to move and have a social life (including my hobby of selling online). So, I believe that for now, I am alright with these Social Media Outlets I am using, but if anyone thinks that Facebook would be useful please let me know.

Instagram Part 4

The Classic Black and White Photo is, in my opinion the most dramatic and difficult to capture. Below are some of my favorite Black and White Photos I have taken.

Another aspect of these set of photographs is my observation of what is above me.
Also note that there are no clouds in the sky, Usually clouds divert eyes away from the lines and shadows of architecture and art.

Of of the most important aspects of my Black and White Photography is the idea of shadow, space and lines. If you notice, lines are usually what I want to present to the viewer.

Instagram Part 3

Capturing nature is always nice, unfortunately,I'm always in my car and rarely have time to take photographs of nature. Above is of a rattlesnake in New Mexico. The photo below is of the La Brea Tar Pits, with the reflection of trees. I found it very moving that the tar looks like water when photographed.

The Photo above is of flowers at a Museum that I volunteer for and below is my back yard, with a little lost bunny resting. The last photo is of the Garden Grounds in the Huntington Library in California. I chose these photos because each has a different subject, background and depth. However I believe that the use of light in each photo is of note because that is what I try to communicate to the viewer.
