Faith

I have been working on my faith in people, life, the universe and God. As a normal human being when things happen outside of my control I start panicking, worrying and tried to fix everything. However somethings can't be fixed especially when they are out of your control. And there will be some destructive people in your life and you just can't do anything about it. Here are some quotes that have really helped me in the past few months. I hope they help you!

If patience is worth anything, it must endure to the end of time. And a living faith will last in the midst of the blackest storm.
Mahatma Gandhi

Faith is a knowledge within the heart, beyond the reach of proof.
Khalil Gibran

As your faith is strengthened you will find that there is no longer the need to have a sense of control, that things will flow as they will, and that you will flow with them, to your great delight and benefit.
Emmanuel Teney

Faith is reason grown courageous.
Sherwood Eddy

Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith.
Steve Jobs

To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don't grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead you relax, and float.
Alan Watts

Have no fear of moving into the unknown. Simply step out fearlessly knowing that I am with you, therefore no harm can befall you; all is very, very well. Do this in complete faith and confidence.
Pope John Paul II

Solitude is different from loneliness, and it doesn't have to be a lonely kind of thing.
Mister Rogers

We have more possibilities available in each moment than we realize.
Thich Nhat Hanh

There is no normal life that is free of pain. It's the very wrestling with our problems that can be the impetus for our growth.
Mister Rogers

Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.
Voltaire

I promise myself that I will enjoy every minute of the day that is given me to live.
Thich Nhat Hanh

The antidote to frustration is a calm faith, not in your own cleverness, or in hard toil, but in God's guidance.
Norman Vincent Peale

There's no 'should' or 'should not' when it comes to having feelings. They're part of who we are and their origins are beyond our control. When we can believe that, we may find it easier to make constructive choices about what to do with those feelings.
Mister Rogers

Buddha taught, “Breathing in, I recognize my feeling. Breathing out, I calm my feeling.” If you practice this, not only will your feeling be calmed down but the energy of mindfulness will also help you see into the nature and roots of your anger. Mindfulness helps you be concentrated and look deeply. This is true meditation. The insight will come after some time of practice. You will see the truth about yourself and the truth about the person who you thought to be the cause of your suffering. This insight will release you from your anger and transform the roots of anger in you. The transformation in you will also help transform the other person. Mindful speaking can bring real happiness, and unmindful speech can kill. When someone tells us something that makes us happy, that is a wonderful gift. But sometimes someone says something to us that is so cruel and distressing that we feel like committing suicide. We lose our joie de vivre.
Thich Nhat Hanh

There is no normal life that is free of pain. It's the very wrestling with our problems that can be the impetus for our growth.
Mister Rogers

Faith makes all things possible... love makes all things easy.
Dwight L. Moody

Experience of reality and not on notions offered by others, no one can remove these beliefs from us. Making a long-term commitment to a concept is much more dangerous. If ten years pass without the growth of our belief, one day we will wake up and discover that we can no longer believe in what we did. The notion of ten years ago is no longer sound or adequate, and we are plunged into the darkness of disbelief. Our faith must be alive. It cannot be just a set of rigid beliefs and notions. Our faith must evolve every day and bring us joy, peace, freedom, and love. Faith implies practice, living our daily life in mindfulness. Some people think that prayer or meditation involves only our minds or our hearts. But we also have to pray with our bodies, with our actions in the world. And our actions must be modelled after those of the living Buddha or the living Christ. If we live as they did, we will have deep understanding and pure actions, and we will do our share to help create a more peaceful world for our children and all of the children of God.
Thich Nhat Hanh

Artists & Fleas - Los Angeles

I finally made it to Artists & Fleas! I've been wanting to go for months, the main issue is that it's not near any subway station, so I'd have to drive there. And I hate driving to Downtown Los Angeles Arts District. It was small, mostly full of hipsters and people eating from food trucks.I did see some interesting sellers and artists there, but I rather look online to see what I'd like to buy. As for selling there, most of the vintage sellers had adorable vintage trailers so I feel like this is the place for professional dedicated sellers, who sell vintage as their main business and occupation. It's not much of a "flea" market as the name states.

What's in my Make-up Bag

From left to right:

Blush: tarte, Colored Clay Bronzer Blush, Pink Bronze | buy
BB Cream: Maybelline, Dream Pure BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector, Medium Tint | buy
Foundation: COVER FX, Natural Finish Oil Free Foundation, G 50 | buy
Lip Balm: Luna, Lemon Zest lip balm | (promotonal item, not sold in stores) shop anyway
Lip Gloss: REVLON Colorburst Lip Gloss, 014 Rosepearl | buy
Eyeliner: E.l.f. Studio Precision Liquid Eyeliner, 81206 Black | buy
Cosmetic Sponge Applicator: beautyblender, the original beautyblender in pink | buy
Foundation Brush: i on beauty, Foundation Brush | buy
Brow Brush: Sephora Collection, Pro Brow Brush #20 | buy

I use the sponge for my oily nose and forehead, because the brush leaves streaks. The COVER FX foundation is only a regularly in my bag during spring and summer, when my skin is darker, otherwise the BB cream is great on it's own. I use the brown brush for my brows and to slightly smudge my eye liner for a softer look. Finally, the free Luna lip balm I got once at a promotional event is amazing and the only lip balm that works on my chapped  lips and it smells amazing!

Favorite Apps and Podcasts

I've had a lot more free time, but because my personal and work life has been so crazy, unreliable and everything I'm dealing with is "up in the air", so all I want to do is stay home and relax and the following apps have been really useful.

Simply Being
I like to use this white noise/meditation music app to get to sleep, my sleeping patterns have been pretty bad and I've been waking up a lot throughout the night, so this helps me unwind and relax.

BuddhaBoard
This app is fun for quick drawing sessions in order to relax.

Headspace
This is a fun app that has quick ten minutes of meditation sessions. You will have to pay for more sessions after the first ten, but it's nice to have this as, I tend to not meditate as well or longer than 5 minutes when I'm meditating alone.

The following Podcasts have been great to listen to:

Serial
Obviously, I think I was one of the last people in the world to listen to this, but I was addicted and can't wait for another season.

After the Jump
As an Etsy/Vintage seller and Arts Manager I have enjoyed every episode, from blogging tips to creating your own business. This podcast is informative, educational and fun.

PsychicTeachers
This app is fun to listen t when I'm getting ready for the day. I like to listen to the zen, healing, and intuition episodes. There are episodes that deal with ghosts, spirits, and wiccan topics, though I haven't listened to these yet.

If you'd like a list of more podcasts, you can go to the website, Podcast Thing.

Wine Tasting

I did come wine tasting in Pasadena with friends. After drinking over 10 glasses of red and white wine I came across the following wines that I would buy bottles of. I would review them, however I don't know enough about wine to give a review that would make sense to those in-the-know.

Everson Royce, Pasadena (website)
Poe Rose of Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier 2014 / Sonoma $18.90 a bottle (top left)
Vaughn Duffy Pinot Noir 2013 / Russian River Valley $31.50 a bottle (top right)

Monopole Wine, Pasadena (website)
Le Domaine de Menard Cuvee Marine 2013 / France $9.95 a bottle (bottom left)

Mission Wines, South Pasadena (website)
The Tryst, Brunette Bottle from Brian Benson  2012 / Grenache & Mourvèdre $45.00 a bottle (bottom left)
